Two Arrests Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
The assault resulted in the partial shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a theft at Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area for suspected theft and assault and a woman, 23 was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.

These detentions follow a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the incident, two women were robbed of their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was among the injured in the event. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been released.

Officers detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of theft and assault near the scene. He has since been released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Police were alerted at about 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of people injured by a noxious substance believed to be pepper spray.

The attack - which authorities stated was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - caused train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
